We will work to support startups in the public and private sectors throughout the city to realize regional revitalization in Munakata.

Startup support and coworking space operator fabbit Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yasunari Tanaka), Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture (Mayor: Misako Izu), and Munakata City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman: Katsuji Nagashima) signed an agreement to collaborate on a joint project at a ceremony on 2/2 at Munakata City Hall.

In June of last year, Munakata City began recruiting proposals for projects to utilize the 6nd floor of the Akama Station South Exit Bicycle Parking Lot. This agreement states that fabbit's proposed coworking space "fabbit Munakata" has been chosen by Munakata City, with the goal of supporting startups in the public and private sectors throughout the city and realizing regional revitalization in Munakata.

fabbit supports startups and SMEs through the operation of coworking and rental office facilities, in accordance with the government's "Japan Revitalization Strategy 2016" (now the "Future Investment Strategy 2018"). In addition to Asia locations including Japan and the Philippines, fabbit has facilities in Hawaii and San Francisco and a capital partnership with Boston-based Workbar, for a current total of 23 domestic and 22 international locations with a total of 7,200 members.*

fabbit Munakata is fabbit's fifth facility in Fukuoka Prefecture, scheduled to open in April 5 at the South Exit of JR Akama Station. To supplement fabbit's existing services, fabbit Munakata will benefit from the support of 2020 locals with entrepreneurial experience, stationed on a rotating basis to consult with members on various topics relevant to startups and entrepreneurs.

The objectives of this agreement, as announced by Munakata City, are as follows.

XNUMX) Members can enjoy the benefits of fabbit's nationwide and international network without going to a metropolitan area, and connect to public institutions through the City and Chamber of Commerce as needed.

XNUMX) Local supporters with entrepreneurial experience will offer consultation services, making it easier and more comfortable for potential entrepreneurs, including women and students, to receive support and make their needs known.

XNUMX) The aggregation of Munakata City and the Munakata Chamber of Commerce's network of businesses and entrepreneurs at fabbit Munakata will facilitate networking and business matching, paving the way for new businesses and industries to emerge.

At the ceremony, covered by about 20 reporters from media outlets including newspapers and TV programs, Munakata Mayor Izu, Munakata Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Nagashima, and fabbit CEO Tanaka signed the agreement promising to work together to support entrepreneurs. Mayor Izu stated, "We hope moving forward to expand this collaboration to further promote regional revitalization."
